Revelation 11 – What Is Being Measured in You

Study Content

This chapter begins with something very intentional. John is given a reed like a rod and is told to rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. Measuring is not about size. It is about distinction. It is about identifying what belongs, what aligns, and what is set apart.

The Greek idea behind measuring carries the sense of evaluation, of defining what is within a boundary and what is not. Which means this is not about buildings. It is about alignment.

And that raises a quiet and personal question. If your life were measured, not outwardly but inwardly, what would be found to be aligned with God, and what would fall outside of that boundary.

Then it says to leave out the outer court, because it is given to the Gentiles and will be trodden underfoot. Which reveals something important. Not everything that appears connected is truly aligned. There are areas that look close but are not within what God is measuring as His.

And that invites reflection. Are there areas in your life that appear spiritual on the outside, but have not been brought into true alignment within.

Then the focus shifts to two witnesses. They are given authority to prophesy, clothed in sackcloth, which represents humility and a message that carries weight. These are not casual voices. They are sent with purpose.

And it says they are the two olive trees and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. Which connects them to being sustained by God and carrying His light.

Which means their strength is not from themselves. It is from what they are connected to.

And that raises a deeper question. What is sustaining you in what you are called to carry.

Then it describes their authority. Fire proceeds from their mouth against those who would harm them. They have power to shut heaven, to turn waters to blood, and to strike the earth with plagues.

Which shows that what they carry is not powerless. It is backed by heaven.

But then something shifts. When they have finished their testimony, the beast makes war against them and overcomes them. They are killed, and their bodies lie in the street.

Which reveals something that must be understood. Completion of assignment does not always look like victory in the way the world defines it.

And that raises a quiet but searching question. Are you willing to be faithful to what God has given you, even if it does not look like success outwardly.

Then it says the world rejoices over them, sending gifts, celebrating their death, because their message tormented those who dwelt on the earth.

Which shows that truth, when spoken clearly, will not always be received. It will confront. It will expose.

And that invites reflection. Are you willing to carry truth even when it is not welcomed.

Then after three and a half days, the breath of life from God enters them, and they stand on their feet. What looked finished is not finished.

And great fear falls on those who see them.

Then they hear a voice from heaven saying, “Come up hither.” And they ascend.

Which reveals something powerful. What is lifted by God cannot be held down by anything else.

And that leads to a deeper reflection. Do you trust that what God establishes in your life cannot be permanently stopped, even if it appears interrupted.

Then there is a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city falls. Again, shaking follows revelation.

And then the seventh angel sounds.

And this shifts everything.

Voices in heaven declare, “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ.”

Not will become. Are become.

Which means what has always been true is now being declared openly.

Then the elders fall on their faces and worship, recognizing that God has taken His great power and has begun to reign.

And it speaks of reward and judgment, of those who serve Him and those who destroy the earth.

Which shows that everything is being brought into account.

Then the temple of God is opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant is seen.

The ark represents His presence, His promise, His faithfulness.

Which means at the center of everything is not destruction, but covenant.

And there are lightnings, voices, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.

The same pattern continues. Revelation is followed by response.

And that brings everything into a final reflection. This chapter is not just about events. It is about alignment, witness, and completion.

What is being measured in you.

What are you carrying as a witness.

And are you willing to remain faithful until what God has given you is complete.

Because what is truly His will be measured, sustained, and ultimately revealed.

Prayer

Father,

Thank You for showing me that You see beyond the surface and measure what is truly aligned with You.

Search my heart and reveal anything that is outside of that alignment, and guide me back into what is true.

Strengthen me to carry what You have given me, even when it is not easy or understood by others.

Help me to remain faithful until what You have started in me is complete.

Remind me that what You establish cannot be taken away, and that Your purposes will always stand.

Let my life be measured and found aligned with You.

Amen
