God Is Not Finished With You
Scripture
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”Philippians 1:6 KJV
Devotion
There are moments when people quietly assume their best days with God are behind them. After seasons of struggle, discouragement, or slow growth, the heart may begin to believe that the work God once started has somehow stalled or been set aside.
But the truth of Scripture speaks directly against that fear.
The work God begins, He continues.
Paul reminds believers that God Himself is the one who started the transformation within them. Salvation was not the result of human effort, and spiritual growth is not sustained by human strength alone. The same God who began the work remains committed to completing it.
This means your life is still in progress.
The struggles you face today are not evidence that God has stepped away. In many cases they are part of the process through which He continues shaping your character, deepening your faith, and guiding your life toward His purpose.
God does not abandon unfinished work. He completes what He begins.
Reflection
Have you ever felt as though your spiritual progress has stalled or fallen behind?
How does the promise that God continues His work change the way you view your current season?
Extended Insight
Philippians 1:6 reveals the confidence Paul had in God’s faithfulness toward believers. The phrase “a good work” refers to the transforming work of salvation and spiritual formation that begins when a person enters into relationship with Christ.
This work unfolds throughout the believer’s life.
Spiritual growth is not always dramatic or immediate. Often it happens gradually as God shapes the heart through experiences, challenges, and daily obedience.
Understanding this truth protects believers from discouragement. When growth feels slow or imperfect, they can remember that God is still at work.
The process may not be finished, but the Author has not stepped away.
Prayer
Father, there are times when I feel discouraged by my own weaknesses and slow progress. I sometimes wonder whether I am growing the way I should.
Thank You for the promise that You are the one who began the work in me. You have not abandoned what You started.
Help me trust Your process and remain faithful as You continue shaping my life. Give me patience to grow and confidence in Your ongoing work.
I place my life in Your hands and trust that You are still working within me.
Amen.
