The Mercy That Meets You Again

Scripture
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”Hebrews 4:16 KJV

Devotion

There are moments when a person returns to God feeling embarrassed by how many times they have needed His mercy. The heart quietly wonders whether this will be the moment when grace finally runs out.

The enemy often encourages that thought. He reminds the mind of how many times the same struggle appeared, how many times forgiveness was needed, and how many times the believer has come back asking for help again.

But the invitation of Scripture remains unchanged.

Come boldly.

The throne we approach is not a throne of rejection. It is a throne of grace. It is the place where mercy is given and where help is found in the moment it is needed most.

This means mercy is not a one time gift. It is a living part of the relationship between God and His people. Every time the heart turns toward Him, mercy meets it again.

God does not measure your approach by how many times you have needed His grace. He responds with the same compassion that has always been part of His character.

Reflection

Have you ever felt hesitant to approach God because you needed mercy again?

How does the invitation to come boldly reshape the way you approach Him?

Extended Insight

The message of Hebrews emphasizes the role of Christ as the High Priest who understands human weakness. Because Jesus experienced life as a human and overcame sin, He stands as the mediator who allows believers to approach God with confidence.

This is why the writer encourages believers to come boldly.

Boldness does not mean arrogance. It means confidence in the character of God and the finished work of Christ. Believers approach the throne of grace not because they are perfect but because mercy is available there.

The repetition of mercy in the life of faith does not frustrate God. Instead, it reveals the depth of His compassion and the reliability of His grace.

Prayer

Father, there are times when I feel hesitant to come to You because I need mercy once again. My heart sometimes feels embarrassed by how often I need Your grace.

Thank You for the invitation to come boldly to the throne of grace. You promise mercy and help when I need it.

Help me trust Your compassion instead of listening to the voice of shame. Let my heart approach You with confidence, knowing that Your mercy is always ready to meet me again.

Thank You for the grace that continues to welcome me.

Amen.
