You Are Always Welcome with God
Scripture
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”Hebrews 4:16 KJV
Devotion
Many people quietly carry the feeling that they must earn their way back into God’s presence. When life is going well and faith feels strong, they feel comfortable approaching Him. But when they struggle, when they fall short, or when life becomes messy, they begin to pull away.
The heart starts to believe that it must clean itself up before returning to God.
Yet the invitation of Scripture says the opposite.
We are told to come boldly to the throne of grace.
Notice what kind of throne it is. Not a throne of rejection. Not a throne of disappointment. It is a throne of grace. The place where God rules is also the place where mercy is given and help is found.
This means that the moment you need God the most is actually the moment you are most invited to come.
God does not welcome you only on your strongest days. He welcomes you when you are weary, confused, broken, or uncertain. His grace is not reserved for the perfect. It is extended to those who come honestly.
You are always welcome with God.
Reflection
Do you ever feel hesitant to approach God when you are struggling?
How does the promise of a throne of grace change the way you view God’s invitation?
Extended Insight
The book of Hebrews emphasizes the unique role of Jesus as the High Priest who understands human weakness. Because Christ entered fully into the human experience and overcame sin, believers now have access to God that was once impossible.
Under the old covenant, access to God’s presence was limited and carefully structured. Only certain individuals could approach certain places within the temple.
But through Christ, the barrier has been removed.
The throne of God is now described as a throne of grace where believers can come boldly. This boldness does not come from personal achievement. It comes from the finished work of Christ.
Because of that work, the door to God’s presence remains open.
Prayer
Father, there are times when I hesitate to come to You, especially when I am aware of my weaknesses and failures.
Thank You for reminding me that Your throne is a throne of grace. You invite me to come boldly, not because of my strength but because of the mercy You freely give.
Help me approach You with confidence and honesty, knowing that I will find grace and help when I need it most.
Thank You for welcoming me into Your presence again and again.
Amen.
