“You Keep Looking for Confirmation While Ignoring Conviction”

There are times when people ask God for confirmation when deep down they already know what He said.
They continue searching for another sign, another feeling, another message, another conversation, hoping for something that removes all uncertainty before they move forward. And while there is nothing wrong with seeking wisdom or praying for clarity, many people quietly become stuck because they keep waiting for confirmation while ignoring conviction.
Conviction often comes before confirmation.
It usually arrives quietly. Not through dramatic signs or overwhelming moments, but through a steady inner knowing that continues returning again and again. It is that gentle pull that will not leave you alone. That quiet awareness that something needs to change, something needs to end, something needs to begin, or something needs to be surrendered.
And yet many people resist conviction because conviction requires response.
Confirmation feels safer because it delays movement. It allows people to remain in the comfort of waiting while avoiding the discomfort of obedience. So instead of responding to what God already placed within them, they continue asking Him to repeat Himself in louder ways.
But often, God is not withholding confirmation.
He is waiting for trust.
This happens more than people realize. Someone knows a relationship is unhealthy, but they continue asking for signs about whether they should stay. Someone knows God has been leading them into a deeper place of surrender, but they keep searching for another message before taking the first step. Someone feels convicted to slow down, forgive, let go, speak up, or walk away, yet instead of responding, they continue waiting for certainty that removes all risk.
But faith has never required complete certainty before obedience.
If God explained every detail before asking you to move, trust would not be necessary.
This is where many people remain spiritually delayed. Not because God stopped speaking, but because they keep looking for confirmation while quietly ignoring the conviction He already gave them.
Conviction is often gentle, but it is persistent.
It continues surfacing because God is trying to lead you somewhere healthier, freer, and more aligned than where you currently are. But conviction will eventually become easier to ignore if it is repeatedly resisted. Over time, people can train themselves to keep searching outwardly while silencing what God has already been speaking inwardly.
That is a dangerous place to remain.
Because sometimes the confirmation you are asking for has already been given through the conviction you keep trying to push aside.
This does not mean every feeling should automatically be treated as God’s direction. Discernment still matters. Wisdom still matters. Prayer still matters. But there is a difference between sincerely seeking God and endlessly delaying obedience because you are hoping for reassurance that removes all discomfort.
God often begins with conviction because conviction reveals alignment before circumstances ever change.
It exposes what your spirit already recognizes, even when your emotions are hesitant to follow.
And many times, peace does not come before obedience.
Sometimes peace comes after you finally stop resisting what God has been showing you all along.
There are moments when the most honest thing you can do is stop asking God to repeat Himself and instead ask yourself why you are resisting what He already made clear.
Because conviction often comes quietly.
But it comes for a reason.
And sometimes the breakthrough you are waiting for is on the other side of finally responding to what God already placed within your heart.
Much Love ~Gayla~
