Discernment in a World That Looks Convincing

One of the biggest challenges right now is not that things look obviously wrong.

It’s that so much of what we’re seeing looks right.

It sounds right. It feels right. It even uses the right language.

And that’s where discernment becomes necessary.

Because discernment is not about recognizing what is clearly false. Most people can do that. Discernment is about recognizing what looks right on the surface but is not rooted in truth.

We are living in a time where things are presented in a way that feels convincing. Messages are polished. Words are carefully chosen. And if you’re not grounded, it is very easy to be pulled into something simply because it sounds good.

But sounding good and being true are not the same thing.

This is why you cannot rely on what something looks like or even how it makes you feel in the moment. You have to know what aligns with God.

And that only comes through relationship.

You cannot discern truth by sampling everything. You discern truth by knowing Him.

Because when you know Him, you begin to recognize what carries His nature and what does not.

You begin to notice the difference between something that leads you into clarity and something that subtly pulls you into confusion. You begin to sense when something is drawing your attention outward in a way that distracts instead of anchors.

And sometimes, the most convincing things are the ones that require the most discernment.

Not because they are completely wrong, but because they are just slightly off.

And “slightly off” is often where people get pulled away.

This is why it is so important to stay rooted.

Not in opinions. Not in what everyone is saying. But in God Himself.

Because when you are rooted in Him, you don’t have to analyze everything you hear.

You begin to recognize.

You recognize what carries peace and what carries pressure. You recognize what brings clarity and what leaves you unsettled. You recognize what draws you closer to Him and what pulls your attention in a different direction.

And that recognition doesn’t come from effort. It comes from staying connected.

So instead of asking, “Does this sound right?”Ask, “Does this align with God?”

Instead of asking, “What are people saying about this?”Ask, “What is God saying?”

Because in a world that looks convincing, your safety is not found in figuring everything out.

It is found in staying close enough to Him that you are not easily moved.

And the closer you stay, the clearer things become.

Not because everything around you changes.

But because you are no longer seeing through the surface.

You are seeing through truth.

Much Love ~Gayla~
