If It Produces Fear, Look Again

There is something important you need to understand.
Not everything that gets your attention is meant to guide you.
And one of the clearest indicators that something needs to be reexamined is this.
It produces fear.
Now, I’m not talking about a healthy awareness or a moment of conviction. I’m talking about that inner tightening. That sense of urgency that feels heavy. That feeling like you need to react right now or you’re going to miss something, fall behind, or be unprepared.
That is not how God leads.
Because fear clouds clarity.
It pulls you out of peace. It pushes you into reaction. And it makes everything feel more urgent than it actually is.
And when you are operating from fear, you are not seeing clearly.
That’s why you have to be willing to stop and ask yourself a different question.
Not, “Is this important?”
But, “What is this producing in me?”
Because what something produces will tell you more than how it sounds.
You can hear something that sounds spiritual, sounds informed, sounds urgent, and still walk away feeling unsettled, anxious, and unsure.
That is a signal.
Not to lean in harder.
But to look again.
God’s voice does not produce confusion. It does not leave you spiraling. It does not push you into panic or pressure.
Even when He speaks truth that requires change, there is still a steadiness to it. There is still a clarity. There is still something in your spirit that recognizes it as Him.
Fear, on the other hand, drives.
It pushes. It rushes. It demands.
And when something is driving you instead of leading you, you need to pause.
Because God leads.
He doesn’t force. He doesn’t rush. He doesn’t overwhelm you with pressure to respond immediately.
So if what you are hearing is producing fear, don’t ignore that.
Don’t override it.
Don’t try to push through it just because it sounds convincing.
Look again.
Step back. Get quiet. Return to His presence and let Him settle what has been stirred up inside of you.
Because clarity does not come from reacting quickly.
It comes from seeing rightly.
And you cannot see rightly when fear is in control.
So instead of asking, “What should I do right now?”
Come back to this.
“Am I at peace?”
Because peace is not weakness.
Peace is alignment.
And when you are aligned with God, you are not easily shaken by what you hear.
You are anchored.
And from that place, you can recognize what is true, what is off, and what is not meant to lead you at all.
So if it produces fear, don’t follow it.
Look again.
Much Love ~Gayla~
