Are You Ready to Meet the King?

Scripture
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27 KJV

Devotion

Every life is moving toward a moment of encounter with God. Scripture reminds us that there will come a day when each person stands before the Lord. For the believer, this is not meant to be a frightening truth. It is a moment of meeting the King. The One we have trusted, prayed to, and followed will stand before us in glory. Yet the question Jesus often asked through His teachings was simple. Are you ready? Readiness is not about having a flawless life. It is about having a heart that has turned toward Christ. It is about knowing Him, trusting His grace, and walking with Him day by day. Many people spend their lives preparing for careers, retirement, or future plans, but the most important preparation is the preparation of the heart. To be ready to meet the King means that our faith is real and our relationship with Him is alive. It means that our hope rests in Christ and not in ourselves. The invitation of the gospel is open today. Those who come to Christ do not need to fear that moment. When the day arrives, they will not be meeting a stranger. They will be meeting the King they have already come to know.

Reflection

If you stood before Christ today, would your heart feel ready to meet Him? What does it mean for you personally to live with that readiness?

Extended Insight

Hebrews 9 reminds believers that life moves toward a moment of accountability before God. This truth is not meant to produce anxiety but awareness. The gospel invites people into reconciliation with God through Christ so that they can stand before Him with confidence rather than fear. Throughout His teaching, Jesus called people to examine their hearts and respond to the invitation of God while the opportunity is open. The question of readiness is ultimately a question of relationship with the King.

Prayer

Father, help me live with a heart that is ready to meet You. Draw me closer to Christ and strengthen my faith in Him. Teach me to walk in sincerity and trust so that when the day comes that I stand before the King, my heart will be at peace in His presence. Amen.
