God Is in the Small Things
Scripture
“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.” Luke 16:10 KJV
Devotion
People often look for God in the big moments.
They expect Him to appear in dramatic answers to prayer, life changing opportunities, or powerful spiritual experiences. Because of this, the smaller moments of life can seem unimportant.
But God frequently works through small things.
Jesus taught that faithfulness in the smallest matters reveals the condition of the heart. The ordinary choices, the quiet acts of integrity, the small moments of obedience are not insignificant in the eyes of God.
They are part of how He shapes a life.
The small things often become the foundation for greater things. A quiet decision to forgive, a simple act of kindness, or a moment of patience when frustration could have taken over may seem unnoticed by the world.
Yet God sees every one of them.
The kingdom of God grows in ways that are often quiet and gradual. Just as a seed begins small before it grows into something strong and visible, many of God’s works in our lives begin through small, faithful steps.
This means that everyday choices matter.
God is present not only in the extraordinary moments but also in the small details of life. The way you respond to people, the faithfulness you show in ordinary responsibilities, and the quiet decisions of your heart all become places where God is working.
Reflection
Do you ever overlook the small moments of your life, thinking they are not spiritually significant?
How might your daily choices change if you remembered that God sees and values faithfulness in the small things?
Extended Insight
In Luke 16, Jesus teaches that character is revealed through small responsibilities. Faithfulness in minor matters prepares a person to carry greater responsibility later.
Throughout Scripture, God often begins His work through small beginnings. David was faithful as a shepherd before becoming king. The disciples were called in ordinary moments before becoming leaders of the early church.
God’s work in a person’s life rarely begins with something large and visible. It grows through quiet obedience and steady faithfulness.
Recognizing this truth helps believers appreciate the spiritual importance of everyday life.
Prayer
Father, help me remain faithful in the small things.
Remind me that even the quiet moments of my life matter to You. Teach me to walk in integrity, patience, and kindness in the everyday choices I make.
Help me trust that You are working through these small moments to shape my life for Your purposes.
Amen.
