God Is Preparing What You Cannot See
Scripture
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.” Isaiah 55:8 KJV
Devotion
There are seasons when life feels uncertain because nothing ahead is visible.
You pray for direction. You look for signs that something is moving forward. Yet the next step seems hidden. The path feels unclear, and the future feels like a blank page.
In those moments it can be easy to assume that nothing is happening.
But God is often preparing things long before we see them.
Isaiah reminds us that God’s thoughts and ways are higher than ours. His perspective stretches far beyond what we can see in the present moment. While we focus on the next step, God is already working further down the road.
He may be preparing circumstances that are not yet in place.
He may be arranging opportunities that have not yet appeared.
He may be shaping people, timing, and situations that will come together at the right moment.
What feels like delay is often unseen preparation.
Many of the greatest moments in Scripture were preceded by long seasons where nothing seemed to be happening. Yet behind the scenes, God was already setting the stage.
Your life is no different.
Even when you cannot see what is ahead, God is preparing what is needed for the story He is writing.
Reflection
Is there a situation in your life where the future feels unclear?
How might trusting that God is preparing things you cannot yet see help bring peace to your heart?
Extended Insight
Isaiah 55 emphasizes the difference between human understanding and divine wisdom. God’s plans often unfold beyond what people can anticipate in the moment.
Throughout Scripture, preparation frequently happened long before the visible outcome appeared. Joseph’s years in prison prepared him for leadership in Egypt. David’s time as a shepherd prepared him for kingship. Even the coming of Christ was preceded by centuries of preparation.
God’s work often begins long before the moment when it becomes visible.
Learning to trust this truth helps believers rest in the knowledge that God’s plans are unfolding even when the present moment feels uncertain.
Prayer
Father, help me trust You when I cannot see what lies ahead.
Remind me that You are preparing things beyond my understanding and arranging the path before me. Give me peace in the unknown and faith to believe that Your plans are good.
Teach me to trust Your wisdom even when the future is not yet clear.
Amen.
