God Was Working Behind the Scenes

Scripture
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 KJV

Devotion

There are seasons when it feels like nothing is happening.

Prayers are offered, but answers seem quiet. Efforts are made, yet progress appears slow. It can feel as though the story has paused and the movement of God has stopped.

But Scripture teaches us something different.

God often works in ways we cannot immediately see.

Behind the scenes of our lives, He is arranging circumstances, preparing hearts, opening doors, and closing others that would have led us in the wrong direction. While we see only the present moment, God sees the entire unfolding story.

Much of God’s work happens quietly.

Joseph did not know God was positioning him for leadership while he sat in prison. Ruth did not know that simple obedience would lead her into the lineage of the Messiah. Esther did not realize that the place she had been brought to would become the place where many lives would be saved.

In each of these stories, God was working long before anyone recognized it.

The same is often true in our lives.

Even when the path feels unclear, even when answers seem delayed, God is still at work. Circumstances are moving. Pieces of the story are being placed together in ways we cannot yet understand.

What feels invisible now may later become the evidence of His faithfulness.

Reflection

Have you ever looked back on a situation and realized that God had been working in ways you did not see at the time?

How might trusting His unseen work change the way you view your current circumstances?

Extended Insight

Romans 8:28 is often quoted as a reminder of God’s sovereignty in the lives of believers. The verse does not say that every situation is good, but it reveals that God is able to work through every situation for His purposes.

This means that even in seasons where progress seems hidden, God is still active.

Throughout Scripture, many of God’s greatest works unfold quietly before they become visible. Preparation often happens before the moment of revelation.

What appears to be stillness may actually be the movement of God beneath the surface.

Prayer

Father, help me trust You when I cannot see what You are doing.

Remind me that even when life feels quiet or uncertain, You are still working behind the scenes. Strengthen my faith so that I can trust Your unseen work.

Give me peace knowing that You are always guiding the story of my life.

Amen.
