Realignment After Drift
Scripture:
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”
James 4:8
DEVOTION
Drift is rarely dramatic.
It happens subtly.
A little less prayer.
A little more distraction.
A little compromise in tone.
A little distance in focus.
Before I realize it, my heart is not as centered as it once was.
Alignment is not lost in one bold rebellion. It is often weakened through small neglect.
Yet God does not respond to drift with abandonment.
He draws.
Through conviction.
Through discomfort.
Through quiet reminders.
Realignment begins the moment I respond.
The beauty of God’s design is that return is always available.
Reflection:
Is there any area where I sense subtle drift?
What simple step can I take today to draw nearer?
Extended Insight:
The instruction is simple but powerful. Draw near.
Realignment is not complicated. It is intentional.
I cannot control yesterday’s drift. I can choose today’s direction.
God does not require perfection before proximity. He invites closeness first.
Conviction is not condemnation. It is invitation.
When I sense that gentle nudge, I have a choice. Ignore it, or respond.
Alignment is maintained through daily returning.
Not once.
Not occasionally.
Daily.
And every time I step toward Him, He meets me.
Prayer:
Father,
If I have drifted in any area, show me gently.
Do not let distance grow unnoticed.
Stir my heart when I begin to lean away from You.
I choose to draw near today.
Cleanse what needs cleansing.
Recenter what needs recentering.
Restore what has weakened.
Thank You that You never withhold Yourself when I return.
Keep me aligned with Your design through daily surrender.
Amen.
