The Kingdom That Is Coming
Scripture
“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” Revelation 11:15 KJV
Devotion
From the beginning of His ministry, Jesus spoke about the kingdom of God. He taught that the kingdom had begun to break into the world through His life and work, yet He also pointed forward to a day when that kingdom would be fully revealed. The world we live in today is filled with brokenness, injustice, and uncertainty. But Scripture reminds us that this is not the final condition of creation. A greater kingdom is coming. When Christ returns, the authority of every earthly power will give way to the reign of the true King. His kingdom will be one of righteousness, peace, and truth. For believers, this promise fills the heart with hope. It reminds us that the struggles we see around us will not last forever. God is moving history toward a day when His rule will be fully established. Knowing that the kingdom is coming changes how we live now. We choose faithfulness over compromise, hope over despair, and obedience over fear. Our lives become a reflection of the kingdom we belong to. We are citizens of a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and one day that kingdom will be seen by all.
Reflection
How does remembering that God’s kingdom is coming shape the way you live in the present world? In what ways can your life reflect the values of His kingdom today?
Extended Insight
Throughout the New Testament, the kingdom of God is described as both present and future. Through Christ, the kingdom has already begun to break into the world. Yet Scripture also points to a future moment when Christ will return and establish His reign in its fullness. Revelation 11 celebrates this future victory, declaring that the kingdoms of the world will ultimately belong to the Lord and His Christ. This promise strengthens believers as they live in a world that often seems unstable. The coming kingdom reminds us that God’s purposes are moving toward completion and that Christ will reign forever.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the promise of the kingdom that is coming. When the world feels uncertain, remind my heart that Your rule will one day be fully revealed. Help me live as a citizen of Your kingdom today, reflecting Your truth, love, and righteousness while I wait for the return of Christ. Amen.
