Trusting God in the Waiting
Scripture
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”Isaiah 40:31 KJV
Devotion
Waiting is one of the most difficult parts of the journey of faith. The heart wants movement, answers, and visible progress. When those things do not come quickly, waiting can begin to feel frustrating and uncertain.
It is easy to assume that waiting means nothing is happening.
But Scripture reveals that waiting with God is not wasted time. It is often the place where strength is quietly being formed. Isaiah describes those who wait upon the Lord as people whose strength becomes renewed.
While the outward situation may appear unchanged, something important is happening within the heart.
Waiting teaches patience.
Waiting deepens trust.
Waiting reminds the soul that God’s timing is wiser than our own.
In seasons of waiting, God is often preparing both the path ahead and the person who will walk that path. What feels like delay may actually be preparation for something that requires deeper faith and stronger character.
Trust grows when the heart learns to rest in God even when the next step has not yet appeared.
Reflection
Is there an area of your life where you feel like you are waiting for God to move?
What might change if you saw this season not as delay but as preparation?
Extended Insight
Isaiah 40 was written to people who were weary and longing for deliverance. God reminded them that His strength does not fade and that those who rely on Him will find renewed endurance.
The image of eagles rising on the wind reflects the idea of strength that comes from relying on something greater than personal effort.
Waiting upon the Lord involves expectation and trust rather than passive resignation. It is the posture of a heart that believes God will act in His time.
Through waiting, believers learn to depend more deeply on the strength God provides.
Prayer
Father, waiting can feel difficult when I long to see answers and movement in my life. Sometimes the silence of waiting makes me wonder what You are doing.
Help me trust You during this season. Renew my strength as I wait upon You and remind me that Your timing is always wise.
Teach my heart to rest in Your presence while You prepare the way ahead.
I choose to trust You in the waiting today.
Amen.
