When You Feel Like Giving Up
Scripture
“Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9 KJV
Devotion
There are moments in life when the effort feels endless.
You try to do the right thing. You try to keep trusting God. You try to keep moving forward. Yet sometimes it feels like nothing is changing. Progress seems slow. The answers you hoped for have not arrived. The strength you once had feels like it is fading.
In those moments, the thought quietly appears.
Maybe it would be easier to stop trying.
Scripture speaks directly into that place of discouragement. Paul tells believers not to grow weary in doing what is right, because a harvest is coming in its proper season.
The difficulty is that the harvest does not always arrive when we expect it.
God works in seasons. Seeds planted in faith often grow beneath the surface long before they appear above the ground. What looks like delay may actually be a hidden process of growth that is not yet visible.
Giving up too early can cause someone to walk away just before the breakthrough God was preparing.
Faith often means continuing to trust God when the results cannot yet be seen.
The quiet perseverance of faith is powerful. Every act of obedience, every prayer, every moment of choosing to trust God is part of the seed that will eventually produce fruit.
The season you are in right now may feel difficult, but it is not the end of your story.
Reflection
Have you been feeling discouraged or tempted to give up in an area of your life?
What would it look like to trust that God is still working even if you cannot yet see the outcome?
Extended Insight
Galatians 6 teaches that spiritual life operates according to the principle of sowing and reaping. Seeds planted today often produce fruit later. This truth requires patience and trust in God’s timing.
The phrase “if we faint not” reveals that perseverance is part of faith. Continuing to trust God through difficulty is not weakness. It is a sign of spiritual endurance.
God sees the quiet faithfulness that others may never notice. What seems small or unnoticed in the present may become part of a greater harvest in the future.
Prayer
Father, there are moments when I feel tired and discouraged.
Sometimes it feels like the effort is not making a difference. Help me not to give up when the path becomes difficult. Strengthen my heart so that I can continue to trust You even when I cannot see the outcome yet.
Remind me that You are working in ways that I may not fully understand. Give me the endurance to keep walking forward in faith.
Amen.
