When Your Strength Feels Gone
Scripture
“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.” Isaiah 40:29 KJV
Devotion
There are days when the strength you once had feels like it has disappeared.
The energy to keep pushing forward is gone. The heart feels tired. Even simple things begin to feel heavier than they used to. When strength fades, it can create a quiet fear that you may not have what it takes to keep going.
But God understands those moments.
Isaiah reminds us that God gives power to the faint. He does not only help the strong. He strengthens the ones who feel like they have nothing left.
This means that weakness is not the end of the story.
When your strength runs out, God’s strength becomes available. The place where you feel empty is often the very place where God begins to fill the heart again. What you cannot carry alone becomes something He helps you hold.
God does not expect you to be strong all the time.
He simply invites you to rely on Him when you are not.
Strength that comes from God is different from the strength we try to create on our own. It does not come from pressure or effort. It comes from trusting that the One who created you is able to sustain you.
When your strength feels gone, you are not abandoned.
You are standing in the very place where God loves to restore His people.
Reflection
Is there an area of your life where you feel like your strength has run out?
How might inviting God into that place help renew the strength you need for the next step?
Extended Insight
Isaiah 40 speaks to people who had grown weary from long seasons of difficulty. The prophet reminded them that God’s strength does not diminish when human strength fades.
The passage continues by explaining that even young people grow tired and weary, but those who wait upon the Lord find renewed strength. This renewal reflects a divine exchange where human weakness meets God’s sustaining power.
Scripture consistently shows that God’s strength is most visible in moments of human weakness. The apostle Paul later expressed this truth when he recognized that God’s power is made perfect in weakness.
The place where strength feels gone often becomes the place where faith learns to depend fully on God.
Prayer
Father, You know the moments when my strength feels gone.
When I feel tired and unable to carry what is in front of me, remind me that Your strength is greater than my weakness. Renew my heart and give me the strength I need for today.
Help me trust that You will sustain me even when I feel empty.
Amen.
