Test What You’re Hearing Before You Trust It

Not everything that sounds right is true.
And not everything that feels good is from God.
There are many voices speaking today. Some are confident. Some are convincing. Some even use Scripture. And because of that, it can be easy to assume that what you are hearing is safe to receive without question.
But you were never meant to accept everything at face value.
You were meant to test it.
There is a difference between hearing something and agreeing with it. There is a difference between being moved by something and knowing that it is aligned with truth. Just because something resonates does not mean it is rooted in God. Just because it sounds spiritual does not mean it is from Him.
This is where discernment becomes necessary.
Discernment is not suspicion. It is not being critical of everything you hear. It is the ability to recognize what aligns with truth and what does not. It is the willingness to pause, to examine, and to bring what you have heard before God instead of immediately accepting it.
If you do not test what you are hearing, you will slowly begin to build your understanding on whatever sounds right in the moment. Over time, that leads to confusion. It leads to instability. It leads to a place where you are constantly shifting because what you are standing on is not firm.
Truth does not need to be protected from testing.
It will stand when it is examined.
So when you hear something, do not rush to accept it. Do not rush to repeat it. Take it back to the Word. Sit with it. Ask God to show you what is true. Allow Him to confirm or correct what you have heard.
This is how your foundation becomes strong.
Because you are not relying on the strength of someone else’s voice. You are anchoring yourself in what is actually true.
There will always be voices. There will always be teachings. There will always be something new being said. But your responsibility is not to absorb everything. Your responsibility is to discern what aligns with God and what does not.
You do not have to reject everything.
But you do need to examine everything.
Because what you accept will shape how you think, how you believe, and how you walk.
And if you are not careful, you can begin to trust something simply because it was said with confidence, not because it was grounded in truth.
This is why testing matters.
Not to make things complicated, but to keep you aligned.
Because when you take the time to test what you are hearing, you protect your foundation. You protect your direction. And you protect your relationship with God from being shaped by voices that were never meant to lead you.
You were never called to believe everything you hear.
You were called to discern what is true.
And truth will always stand when it is tested.
Much Love ~Gayla~
